On Brokenness and Being Brave (And New Clothes!)

March 7, 2014 By LeeAnn G. Taylor

It isn’t easy.

This putting yourself out there for the world to see.

The sharing of the inner self with all of its brokenness and scars.

But there is something beautiful in being willing to be authentic and sharing life’s experiences. The ups and downs and around and arounds.

It is not easy. Life is not always pretty, wrapped up in shiny paper with a flowing bow to match. It’s real and raw and it spills out of us in words and thoughts all jumbled. But in transparency there is power.

I know because you’ve told me. You’ve shared how words shared are speaking to your life. And all because one person is willing.

What about you? Are you willing to step outside of your comfort zone, that place that feels safe but really isn’t? Are you willing to do something brave, something that might not work…but then again, it might?

Today let’s be brave and live as God created us – as artists! Our lives, placed in his hands. The Creator molding the created, transforming lives.

"If you are willing to do something that might not work, you're closer to being an artist." Seth Godin

“If you are willing to do something that might not work,
you’re closer to being an artist.”
Seth Godin

============

It’s March, that time of the year when nature can’t decide whether or not it’s winter or spring. It’s a time of transition and of promise of beautiful things to come. Here in my little corner of the online world, it’s also a time of transition.

In the next few weeks you will see changes to the look and feel as well as the name of the site. The content will be the same but the “clothes” will be different. I’m excited about what’s to come!

It’ll be a bit of a whirlwind few weeks, with my son having surgery on Tuesday, March 11th to remove his tonsils and adenoids to help his breathing and the warning from his doctor of two weeks of challenging recovery for the little guy.

Will you please pray for for my little man to recover quickly from the cold & cough he’s developed {he needs to be well or the surgery will be canceled}, for a rested and steady-handed doctor, and for Sekaiah to drink plenty of fluids so recovery is as smooth as possible?

Thank you for covering us in prayer this next week!

God totally sent me to you this morning! My 18mo old just had his adnoid out about 8 weeks ago and Im here to tell you all will be well. They are such little troopers. If you have more surgery concerns feel free to email me 🙂 Beautiful post…first time visiting from FMF and excited to see the new changes that are to come in the future.

Oh Jenny, thank you so much for that encouragement! My little guy will turn 2 in May and they wanted to wait until he was 3 to do the surgery but his breathing is so constricted that he’s using too many calories tossing and turning at night and he’s not growing enough as a result (he’s just 22lbs). Any tips or tricks on how to make the day of surgery go smoothly and getting him to drink and stay hydrated would be welcomed! Sending you a hug. So glad God loves us in the little ways and sends people to encourage us just how we need it!

I so enjoyed this post. It is so true – we must be willing to be brave and just show up to do that which God created us to do. For each of us, it looks different but still requires a willingness. I love the Seth Godin quote. May I post it on my FB? Blessings!

Thank you for the encouraging words this morning. I’m in a place of uncomfortable transparency with my writing, as well. Love the thought that there indeed power in that. The Lord’s power as He uses these words of ours to speak to others through our own mess called life. So excited to see your “new clothes” soon. Will be praying for your little man and you! 🙂 So glad to have found you through FMF. I slept through party last night. 😉

Great post, friend. All it takes is for us to be willing to open up and God can do great things. In us, around us, through us. Praying for your sweet boy and can’t wait to see the new “clothes”!

Love this !! God doesn’t want us to be perfect His just wants us to be willing to allow Him to work through us.

    Praying for your little one.

You know Amy, it took me a long time to realize God doesn’t want us to be perfect…and even longer to allow Him to work through me. What a blessing though. So glad to be on this path with you!

Great post! My One Word for this year is Fearless – and this goes perfectly with my concept of being willing to show the flaws, to move beyond the doubts and step out in faith, trusting that God will hold me.

“In transparency there is power” That is a very true and powerful statement. When you are being honest there is a confidence that swells inside of you that is indescribable. Once you have faced your fear or told your secret, there is no way for you to be insulted or embarrassed or humiliated and that is extremely empowering. God is awesome and this post was great.

This is absolutely true! My husband has learned this in his life coaching practice. When he shares his failures, his clients more easily share their own and are able to move forward with the goals and plans they have for their lives. Thank you for stopping by and for sharing your thoughts!

    LeeAnn,

    As always, love your words.

    Great quote by Seth Godin.

From the comments, I see your son made it through surgery. I hope he’s recovering well.

Thanks for much for linking-up last Friday at Beauty Observed. I am always so happy to see you there 🙂 I don’t know if he’s interested, but your husband is also welcome.

    Fondly,
    Elizabeth
