Sometimes we forget.
Not the kind of forget where you head to the grocery store without a list (again) and run in for a couple of things but forget the milk…even though your 5 year old reminded you that she doesn’t like to eat dry cereal and mommy, would you please please please get milk.
No, not that kind of forget.
The kind of forget where we live out life separate from what’s true. Where our reality and our perspective totally and completely misses the mark of the truth.
And the result? We end up grasping for the light and living instead in the darkness.
Sometimes it happens only for a moment and our minds swirl with untruths that scatter our thoughts and erupt into frustration or outright anger. Other times, well, we live life like the truth doesn’t exist at all.
And friends, living life outside of God’s truth, outside His protective covering, well it surely doesn’t make for a joy-filled life.
And yet we try to figure out life on our own, seeking solutions in the next self-help book on Amazon or our friends on Facebook or the magazine on the rack in the grocery store checkout line.
But what if the solution to our longing is right in front of us?
Proverbs 119 tells us to hide God’s word in our hearts and when we do, His word will lead us into truth.
So today, dear friend, I’m sharing some truth as we seek to plant deep roots in God’s word so our lives will be lived out in the light of His truth instead of the shadows of the darkness.
“LORD, there is no one like you!
For you are great, and your name is full of power.”
And so, we read truth. Take a moment to soak it in.
It’s God who is great. It’s God who has the power in our lives. There is no one like Him. There is no need to seek power and truth in other places. It He who teaches us, corrects us, and guides us into truth.

Great Are You Lord from All Sons and Daughters {LIVE}
You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It’s Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
Great are You, Lord
All the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing
Great are You, Lord
Do you have a song of worship that’s speaking to you right now? Share in the comments and it might show up on another edition of Worship Wednesday. (A special thank you to Karrilee for suggesting this song.)
For today, let’s pour out our praise to the One who brings light to our darkness, restores our broken pieces, and gives hope in the middle of our hopelessness. Great are you, Lord!
Oh how forgetful we can be! LeeAnn, your words are powerful reminders to us to remember the truth of God’s word…the truth about who He is and what He has done for us. And that He did it because He loves, always and forever. So beautiful!
It doesn’t take much for us to forget, does it? It’s why I need the reminder daily of His truth!
So many lovely posts on your blog! You’ve been to visit me & I’ve delayed in returning the favor. But that just meant I got to read through your inspiring words & be encouraged. Thanks & blessings!
Thanks so much for stopping by Renee! 🙂
LeeAnn, this well written piece fills me with hope that all of us who are reading it will always seek the Truth. There is such a difference between seeking (studying and understanding scripture) and merely reading through it. You have so aptly taught the truth of Jesus’ words: If you abide in my Word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
I have been re-introduced to that very scripture passage in the last year or so and it brings so much life! Thank you so much for your example and encouragement. You are such a blessing in my life! 🙂
May we hide His Word in our heart to always remember His mercy, love, grace and light! Thanks for the beautiful, inspiring post & God bless!
